May is CalFresh Awareness Month, and since 2011 it has been the official month dedicated to increasing public awareness of the CalFresh Program. Contra Costa County along with the state of California and community organizations are committed to bringing awareness, dispelling myths, and assisting clients with CalFresh applications.
The 2025 CalFresh Awareness Month theme is CalFresh for All which refers to the collective efforts and policies designed to expand access to the CalFresh program which provides food assistance to low-income individuals and families in California. CalFresh benefits stretch food budgets, allowing individuals and families to afford nutritious food, including more fruit, vegetables and other healthy foods helping them meet their nutritional needs and improve their overall well-being.
CalFresh is for everyone meeting the eligibility guidelines! Parents, single adults, children, people with disabilities, homeless individuals, and people 60 years or older may be eligible for CalFresh. Many are unaware they are eligible to receive benefits.
