CalWorks Child Care known as Stage 1 is a supportive service for adults who are required to participate in the CalWORKs Welfare to Work (WTW) program.
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) provides funding for child care supportive services for those parents who are approved for CalWORKs, required to participate in Welfare-to-Work and have at least one child under 13 years of age. In order to qualify for child care supportive services under the CalWORKs program you must meet the following criteria:
- You, the parent, are receiving cash assistance under the CalWORKs program and your child is under age 13*
- You, the parent, were receiving cash assistance under the CalWORKs program within the last 24 months and your child is under age 13* AND,
- You, the parent, have completed the CCP 7CC that was given to you at the time of your CalWORKs cash aid approval, informing the county of who you selected as your child’s care provider. If you need child care and no longer have the CCP 7CC form, contact your Welfare-to-Work worker to request child care.
* The age limit may be higher for a disabled child
