The Contra Costa County Employment & Human Services Department administers the following child care programs:
• CalWORKs Stage One Child Care begins upon the entry of a person into the CalWORKs assistance program and is a supportive service for adults who are required to participate in the CalWORKs Welfare to Work (WTW) program. A family may receive a child care subsidy for any legal child care chosen by the client when participating in approved WTW activities. To find out more about CalWORKs Stage One Child Care click here
• CalWORKs Stage Two Child Care may begin when the parent’s employment and child care arrangements are stable. In most instances, families are referred from CalWORKs Stage One to Stage Two for child care services. Families may remain in Stage Two for up to 24 months after they stop receiving CalWORKs cash assistance. To find out more about CalWORKs Stage One Child Care click here
