Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA)

Refugee Cash Assistance is available for the first 8 months that a refugee (admitted for permanent residence) is in the U.S.

In California, the refugee must first have eligibility for CalWORKs determined. If it is determined that the refugee is eligible for CalWORKs, aid must be paid under that program rather than from RCA funds.

RCA is also available to asylees for 8 months following the date the individual is granted asylum and to Victims of Trafficking for 8 months following certification. Again, eligibility for CalWORKs must be determined and aid paid under that program if eligibility exists. For more information please contact:

Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI)

Provides cash assistance for aged, blind and disabled legal immigrants who do not qualify for federal SSI because of welfare reform changes. For more information please contact:
