The Community Services Bureau is the largest provider of Early Care and Child Education in Contra Costa County. Annually, we serve over 3,000 children and their families in Head Start, Early Head Start, and Child Development programs. To keep the teacher-to-child ratio low, we employ over 300 teaching staff in 14 child care centers countywide. Our largest curriculum is our Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Head Start is a comprehensive program designed to promote the healthy development of young children form low income families. Head Start provides children with daily nutritious meals and many opportunities for social, intellectual, and emotional growth preparing them for success in school and life.

Early Head Start provides child development services for infants, toddlers and pregnant women. Its principles are based on research proving the importance of the period from birth to age three in a child’s healthy growth and development. Contra Costa County Community Services also provides State Preschool and General Child Care programs funded by the California Department of Education. These necessary programs provide child care support to income eligible parents who are working , in job training or seeking employment.

Site Supervisor ($38,592.12 to $55,343.76)

You love your work as a Site Supervisor in a small capacity Early Childhood Development Center. You know your staff and parents well, and treasure the children trusted to your program. Your attention to detail has earned praise. Your staff trust your judgment and mentoring.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of full-time experience as a Teacher in a publicly funded pre-school.
  • Possession of a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Proven ability to meet standards required by all State and Federal Head Start Performance Standards.
  • High level of expertise in working with sensitive issues in a multicultural environment.
  • Intermediate Level Computer Literacy.

Master Teacher ($36,150.84 to $43,941.60)

Do you enjoy planning curriculum, training your staff, and directing preschool education and parent involvement activities? Can you effectively discuss our programs with the general public and other childhood education professionals?

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher.
  • Valid Master Teacher Permit.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 2 years for full time experience as a preschool teacher, 1 must be in a supervisory position.
  • Proven ability to communicate with multicultural population with dignity and respect.
  • Outstanding planning and administrative abilities.
  • Intermediate Computer Literacy.
  • Exceptional Interpersonal skills with peer, children, and parents.

Teacher ($34,032.00 to $41,366.16)

Watch your class bloom as you build and maintain a nurturing environment promoting family involvement, social, intellectual, linguistic & emotional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher
  • Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Outstanding ability to effectively communicate with a diverse, multi-cultural population.

Associate Teacher ($25,261.31 to $30,705.24)

Under the mentorship of an experienced teacher, you’ll focus on providing a safe and stimulating lerning environment for children. Every day, you’ll make a difference!

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D equivalency, or High School Proficiency Certificate
  • Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Excellent communication skills with children, peers and parents.

Teacher Assistant Trainee (TAT) ($17,704.56 to $19,519.32)
