What is welfare fraud?
Any person who willfully and knowingly, with the intent to deceive, or who makes a false statement or representation or presents a fraudulent device, or knowingly fails to disclose a material fact in order to obtain, sustain, or increase, the amount of aid that he or she receives, or for a child not in fact entitled thereto, can be charged with a crime.

If you have reason to believe that someone is wrongfully collecting public assistance benefits or receiving employment or human services they are not eligible for, please contact us.

Because of confidentiality regulations, the Special Investigations Unit cannot confirm or deny whether an individual is receiving public assistance or services. If you would like to speak with someone about your suspicions, or if you have questions regarding a welfare fraud investigation or additional information to report, you may call (925) 313-1546.
