Last year, Contra Costa County found loving adoptive homes for over 200 children. This year, maybe we can help you add to your family. We have an innovative program called Concurrent Planning. This means that we can place children with a potential adoptive home while we continue working with the birth family, providing reunification services. We believe this benefits the children since it reduces the amount of time they must wait for a permanent family. The benefit to potential adoptive families is that the children will be younger when they come to you and will have faced fewer traumatic moves. Getting started. We hold orientations, which are mandatory for all families interested in fostering or adopting children. Our policies and the types of children needing families are discussed in detail. Orientations are held at the following locations:
Dates and locations are subject to change. Please call the Adoptions/Homefinding Unit at (925) 335-7040 for more information. How does it work? Concurrent caregivers are foster parents and prospective adoptive parents at the same time. They provide love and stability to children we believe will probably need adoptive families since the likelihood that their birth families will reunify is low. We also accept and process applications for families interested in traditional, low risk or no risk adoption. Most children in these situations are older children, teens, and sibling groups. 2010 March to October Orientation & Information meetings 2009/2010 December to May Orientation & Information meetings County Contact For more information on adoption: www.bakids.org |
